Term 2, 2025 - Newsletter
Thank you for a wonderful Term 2! Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year! There has been much to celebrate this term, especially as our Junior Competition season kicks off. Well done to all the gymnasts who have been working so hard.
We’re pleased to report that our Bunnings BBQ fundraiser raised an impressive $2700 for the Club. Our highest profit yet! Thank you to everyone who helped, from organisers, to onion chopping warriors and volunteers on the day, we couldn’t have done it without you. Also, a massive thank you to Super Butcher Southport, Woolworths Southport Park and Bakers Delight Oxenford for donating our food items.
Welcome Coach Aimee
We are pleased to introduce to you our newest member of the SGC coaching team - Aimee. Here’s what Aimee had to say about herself: “I was a gymnast throughout my childhood, and my love for the sport naturally led me into coaching. I’m passionate about movement and deeply enjoy supporting young athletes as they grow in confidence and skill. I previously coached at Dunedin Gymnastics Academy in New Zealand and relocated to the Gold Coast at the beginning of this year. One of the most rewarding parts of coaching for me is seeing gymnasts master new skills and celebrate their progress - no matter how big or small.“ Welcome to the SGC family!
Competition season
Congratulations to all of our gymnasts who competed in the first competition of the junior season at ADGA and then again at GCGC. The cheering and support our gymnasts have for each other is unmatched. The 2025 competition season also saw 13 brand new gymnasts take the floor for their very first time in Level 1 and 2. We are very proud of each of them.
Catch up on all the results from AGDA here and from GCGC here. Thank you to our wonderful judges Dom and Stacey!
Our senior gymnasts also competed at the Queensland Senior State Championships.
A message from Head Coach Maddy
As we head into the new term, we’re excited to see our competitive groups continuing to build momentum in preparation for the upcoming State Clubs Championships in July.
Our Level 4 and Level 5 gymnasts will now each be training together as unified groups within their respective levels, helping to build stronger team dynamics and consistency.
Junior coaches Aimee and Chloe will be working closely together across both levels to support the athletes’ development, while senior coach Max continues to provide guidance across all competitive levels.
Our Level 1-3 coaches are prioritising refinement of basics and artistic qualities throughout their squads, looking to see this improve the gymnasts' performances throughout the competition season.
We’re looking forward to a focused and productive term as our gymnasts work hard toward their goals.
Recreational corner
WOW! What an amazing term we’ve had in our recreational classes!
Our Kindergym stars have made incredible progress — with 90% of our mini gymnasts now performing forward and backward rolls unaided! Many are even taking their cartwheels to the floor — fantastic work!
Our Bronze gymnasts have been shining too, with many progressing to Silver this term. Congratulations! Silver gymnasts are hard at work learning pre-competition routines. Their hard work in classes is paying off. Gold classes are also working on their pre-competition level 1 and 2 routines. We are really excited to showcase how these gymnasts are progressing.

Exciting new equipment!
Thanks to all the incredible support and hard work during our recent fundraising efforts, we’re thrilled to announce that we will be purchasing bungee cords and harnesses for our gymnasts!
These bungee harnesses will be installed over the floor area, providing a safe and supportive way for gymnasts at all levels to build confidence and master skills. This is a fantastic addition to our facility and will play a big role in helping our athletes progress safely and effectively.
Thank you to everyone who contributed, we couldn't have done it without you.
